چکیده

If the extract, prepared as described, is too contaminated for reliable analysis, a double small-volume extraction can be used. In this modification, the buffered urine is extracted with 1.0 ml of extraction solvent. After centrifugation, an aliquot of this extract is transferred to a tube containing 100 il of HC1 (0.4 mol/liter). After the mixture has been shaken and centrifuged, the HC1 layer is removed and made alkaline with 50 jl of NaOH (1 mol/ liter). This mixture is then extracted with 50 il of extraction solvent, an aliquot of which is injected into the chromatograph. We have used the described procedure effectively and reliably for longer than a year as a confirmatory test for organic bases, other than morphine and codeine, in urine. We favor the described procedure over other techniques for several reasons. (a) Evaporation of large volumes of

Rapid, efficient procedure for extraction of drugs for toxicological analysis.

In most cases isolation of drugs from biological samples taken from drug overdose cases has been performed by solvent extraction, for example at pH 9.5 (1), pH 7 (2), or without pH adjustments (3). These techniques do not efficiently extract both strong bases (such as amphetamine) and strong acids (such as acetylsalicylic acid). A two-step extraction of the biological sample at different pH val...

High-Throughput Screening of Drugs of Abuse in Urine by Supported Liquid–Liquid Extraction and UHPLC Coupled to Tandem MS

A qualitative method, involving supported liquid–liquid extraction (SLE) and ultra high pressure liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC-MS–MS), was developed for the rapid tentative identification of various drugs of abuse in urine. In this study, 28 drugs and metabolites were covered by the screening procedure. Before analysis, urine samples were extracted by SLE and ...

Improved solid-phase extraction method for systematic toxicological analysis in biological fluids.

A method for the simultaneous qualitative and quantitative determination of drugs of abuse (opiates, cocaine, or amphetamines) and prescribed drugs (tricyclic antidepressants, phenotiazines, benzodiazepines, etc.) in biological fluids--blood, urine, bile, and gastric contents--was developed. This procedure involves solid-phase extraction with Bond-Elut Certify columns followed by analysis by ga...

Purification and Fractionation of Carbon Dots using pH-controlled Cloud Point Extraction Technique

In this work, we describe a simple, green and general procedure for the purification and fractionation of carbon dots (CDs). CDs coated with oxygen-containing functional groups were synthesized by thermal pyrolysis of citric acid. The product of the reaction was first Purified and then fractionated into two distinct kinds of CDs (f4 and f1) using pH-controlled cloud point extraction (CPE) techn...

The effects of adulterants and selected ingested compounds on drugs-of-abuse testing in urine.

Household chemicals such as bleach, table salt, laundry detergent, toilet bowl cleaner, vinegar, lemon juice, and eyedrops are used for adulterating urine specimens. Most of these adulterants except eyedrops can be detected by routine specimen integrity tests (creatinine, pH, temperature, and specific gravity); however, certain adulterants such as Klear, Whizzies, Urine Luck, and Stealth cannot...
